This project stems from a question that often accompanies me when I begin something: What new story can I tell? What will my starting point be?

Project

Echoing Anne Herbaut’s observation that she can see entire mountains in a small pebble, I like the idea of starting with a small object that we no longer pay attention to and revealing how it can actually have many subtexts, and things that we no longer see because it seems obvious and already familiar.” An attempt to reveal the extraordinary in the ordinary.

This is how I came to focus on the postcard, an object that is now somewhat outdated and overlooked.

From a pile of postcards, I eventually selected one, which I considered and treated as an object of study, investigating it graphically, aesthetically, and semantically, exploring it from every angle.

Like the poets of Oulipo, who delight in repurposing their tools, I played at deconstructing, unraveling, dissecting, and trying to exhaust this postcard using my own tools (textile-based skills) to understand what it is, what it can become, and perhaps what might be hidden within it.

This is a writing exercise. An intimate and analytical form of writing. A dive, a journey, a stroll into the heart of the words and images of this postcard.
